Ningyo from Abroad

With a surge in overseas travel from the 1960s on, many Japanese have brought back ningyo as souvenirs.Our Nishizawa Tekiho Collection of ningyo from overseas has an historical focus.It includes significant examples of ningyo and toys collected from other parts of Asia in the 1920s and 1930s, especially China and the Korean Peninsula.The group of more than 250 toys from Thailand is particularly unusual.These are joined by toys and ningyo from Europe, the Americas, and other parts of the world, each a deeply meaningful work of craft art.
